The Luncheon & Activity Club is essentially a senior citizens drop in club run by senior citizens. The Luncheon & Activity Club serves approximately 15 persons offering light refreshments every Thursday between with a range of activities. These activities include:

- Mobile Phone Training
- Chair Exercise Workout
- Table Tennis
- Skitt Bowling
- Snooker
- Educational Visits
- Social Events
- Dominoes & other table games
About the Activity Club
The main aim for the Luncheon Club and it’s range of services is to help senior citizens enjoy good physical and mental health. The Luncheon Club operates an open door policy to both it’s members and the general public.
Through the
services of a session worker the project offers a computer & IT drop-in and
learning programme for older people living in the Fartown, Almondbury, Paddock
and surrounding areas within
Session workers also run a programme of exercise and light sports with bespoke tailoring to maximise individual participation. Educational visits and Social events incorporate the hire of coaches and the booking of places of interest with sufficient caring support staff.
The Difference it Could Make to Someone You Know
Our research in the local community highlights that elderly people who spend many daytime hours alone look forward to a specific time in the week where they can enjoy a social occasion with friends and new people. We are also aware that they enjoy Shopping trips, Coach Excursions and Museum visits.
Our research also shows that when these events took place previously the senior citizens felt much better about themselves which increased their self esteem.
The project is carefully located at premises which has good wheel chair accessibility, up to date disabled toilets and operates very close to the town centre and is in walking distances from its services.
The marketing and promotional material highlights the benefits widely on offer and welcomes people from all types of various backgrounds.
